Air Conditioning Tips
It is about to get warm and when your Scion sits in the sun all day it can reach oven-like temperatures. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your Air Conditioning System in your Scion.
1. When you first get in your vehicle, roll down all the windows to let the super-heated air escape.
2. Turn on the Air Conditioning to fresh air.
3. When cool air starts coming from the vents, go ahead and roll up the windows.
4. After the air inside the car starts to cool off, go ahead and choose the recirculation function to cool the inside air more quickly.
Following these steps will help you cool off the quickest on those hot summer days. Also, make sure your in- cabin air filter is free of debris so that it does not obstruct air flow.
Due to the air conditions here in the Central Valley, we recommend replacing your in-cabin air filter every year or 15,000 miles.
Fuel Induction
Gas prices are soaring, is your vehicle getting the fuel mileage as it should? There are three main reasons that modern vehicles experience a dip in fuel economy:
1.Improper tire pressure – Low tire pressure increases a vehicles’ rolling resistance and lowers fuel economy.
2.Dirty engine Air Filter – When your car can’t breathe it can’t perform.
3.Fuel deposits – Just like you have seen on TV the fuel we run today can cause deposits throughout the engine and fuel system, especially when using fuels that are not rated as “Top Tier”.
Overcoming these is easy, set tire pressures to the proper spec, inspect the air filter often and perform preventative maintenance on the fuel system to keep it clean and performing as it was intended. Wheel Alignment
The roads in central California are rough, but did you know that driving on them can cause your vehicle's wheels to go out of alignment? Not only can that cause an annoying pull, but it can significantly affect tire wear and fuel mileage on your vehicle. Unfortunately, this happens just by driving where you live. Because of this, we recommend having your alignment inspected at least every 12 months or 15,000 miles. Visalia Scion uses a State of the Art Laser Alignment machine to check your Scion's alignment! Tire Inflation
We all know that tire pressure is important, but just how important is it really? A recent study concerning tire pressures and their effects on tire wear, and fuel consumption found the following:

You can prevent this premature tire wear, and additional fuel consumption from happening simply by keeping your tires up to the proper inflation. You can find your vehicle's proper inflation listed in your driver's door jamb, not on the tire as many people believe. The tire only lists the maximum pressure for the tire.
Tires should be checked at least once a month, and when cold. While checking the pressure in your tires, it is also a good idea to visually inspect them for any signs of damage.
